Our Society is in Mission Viejo, California, which is located about half way between Los Angeles and San Diego and about 10 miles inland from the coast. It is at the foot of Santiago Peak, which we call Saddleback Mountain.
We have even included it in our logo and in the name of our monthly newsletter, “Saddleback Valley Trails”.
We have over 320 members. Meetings are held the third Saturday of each month from 10:00 am to Noon in the main church building at 27976 Marguerite Parkway. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has been kind enough to provide a great place for our meetings.
Our annual Seminar, held in October, takes place in the Saddleback Room at the Mission Viejo City Hall.
Our Special Interest Group meetings take place in either the Saddleback Room, or at the Mission Viejo Library.
We are fortunate to have the use of space in the Mission Viejo Library for our Genealogy Research Center. It is located in the South end of the library where we have four computers with four printers for patron use.
Docents are on duty for most of the time when the library is open.
Across the room from the docent desk are shelves for our book collection and a large cabinet for smaller books and manuscripts.
The South Orange County California Genealogical Society (SOCCGS) is an all volunteer, public benefit, non-profit, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization financed solely by membership dues and donations. All donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
