SOCCGS ANNOUCEMENTS FOR JULY 2020
The Newsletter Archives are Back
The Newsletter Archives have been restored on the website. We have all of the issues from July 1994 to May 2020, with the exception of one missing issue for November 2002. Most of the issues are searchable through the Search Box on the right column of the website. Enjoy!!
Monthly Meetings and SIG Meetings are Back….. Virtually!!
Many of our meetings are resuming their regular schedules using videoconferencing technology to replace in-person meetings. Please check our calendar for June for those meetings that are currently scheduled.
If you are a member of one of our Special Interest Groups (SIGs), most groups have resumed their meeting schedule in a virtual meeting format. Please contact your SIG Leader for meeting information. If you are new and want to attend, please see the event entry on the calendar for contact information.
We continue to assess all meetings and events, and will reflect those scheduled on the calendar.
As always, SOCCGS is concerned with keeping our members safe and healthy.
SOCCGS GENEALOGY RESEARCH CENTER REMAINS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
No date has been st for reopening the SOCCGS Generalogy Research Center located in the Mission Viejo Library. We will update information regarding the operation of the Research Center as it becomes available. Until further notice, we have discontinued providing assistance, or access to our materials or online resources.
Thank you for your patience as we support our community’s health. Please continue to enjoy your genealogical research from home! You can find some of our favorite websites here (scroll down the page for the list of free sites accessible from home) Favorite Websites.
SOCCGS was founded in 1994 in Mission Viejo, California with the purpose to preserve and disseminate knowledge about, and to stimulate interest and provide instruction in genealogical research.
The Mission Viejo Library opened October 25, 1997 and generously provided a space for our genealogical collection of books and CDs. In May of 2002 the new south wing was opened and the Genealogy Research Center was moved into the new area.
With the continuing closure of our physical meeting facilities, all meetings have been moved online. Please see the calendar for more information.
Monthly meetings are held the third Saturday of each month from 10am to noon.
In October we meet for an all day Seminar featuring renowned genealogy speakers.
